In my job, we used to be very individualistic and interact very little with our co-workers. Then one day, the managers decided to apply workplace ergonomics and a correct computer posture. The effect workplace ergonomics had was as positive in our health as in our interaction with our fellow co-workers, allowing us to be for the first time as a family. Our managers had always been very nice people. Empowerment and motivation had always been key elements in our organization. Then, one day, a secretary called in sick. She said she had terrible hand pain.

She went to the doctor and they diagnosed her with finger arthritis. A condition that develops when the cartilage between two joints wears away, making the movement of fingers very painful and in developed stages may inhibit the movement. The doctors associated it with the fact that she had been for over 15 years, typing in a computer for her job, in a way that had caused her to develop this condition. They explained to her the importance of applying workplace ergonomics. Her case altered our managers who had always cared a lot for the workers and our quality of life at work. They decided to start applying workplace ergonomics.

They knew that by applying workplace ergonomics, they would also make themselves a favor by saving all that money in incapacitations. They modified our desks, chair and computers so we could have good workplace ergonomics that would take care of our muscles and joints that become affected by sitting down and typing all day long. They also made us all take training in workplace ergonomics, which was fun and allowed a lot of interaction between coworkers that had never taken place before. Workplace ergonomics has a lot to do with the equipment, but it has a lot to do with the user as well. This is why they hired a group of experts to take a training course in how to apply workplace ergonomics correctly. This was a very fun couple of days. They explained everything from theoretically and physically with images what happens to your body if you don’t apply workplace ergonomics.

They also made examples using us as models. They brought a workplace ergonomics approved desk, chair and computer and showed us the right position of the body, the arms, hands and fingers; how to move them and position them so they wouldn’t be affected by our jobs. This allowed us to laugh and have a little fun and to get to know coworkers we never had known before. Also, by applying workplace ergonomics, we now move around the office more and we take time to say hello to each other while we stretch our legs, arms, shoulders, back and hands.

I would have never believed that owning and typing in a computer ergonomic keyboard made such a difference on the health of my wrist joints, however during the three weeks that I have been typing in one of these keyboards the pain in my wrists and joints has already disappeared. I am the administrator of a huge department store and part of my job consists of writing reports as well as creating many excel sheets with financial facts and data. Sometimes it can take me up to seven or eight hours in a row to write one of my reports and to send them to my bosses and to the board of directors. This means that I spend a lot of hours sitting in front of my computer typing, which in turn means that my arms and my back suffer from a lot of stress.

Lucky for me that I got the clever idea to throw away my old key board and to by for myself the new computer ergonomic keyboard which is advertised on television and on the newspaper. I admit that I was skeptical about the effect that this computer ergonomic keyboard would have on my health, I never thought that it was going to revolutionize my job the way that it did. Before I typed in a computer ergonomic keyboard I used to dread making those reports not because of the report itself but because of the pain that would afflict my arms and my wrists after having been typing on the computer for many hours.

Now that I own and use a computer ergonomic keyboard I can assure you that I am the happiest that I have ever been at my job, and for this exact reason I plan to change all other employees keyboards to a computer ergonomic keyboard. The fact that I am the boss does not mean that I should be the only person to have the privilege to type on a computer ergonomic keyboard, as I believe that all of my employees should definitely have the same privilege as I do. The company does not even have to spend a lot of money to switch the keyboard to a computer ergonomic keyboard for all employees who must spend a lot of their time typing and who must turn in a lot of reports. I plan to change all keyboards to computer ergonomic keyboards within this next month, and I am positive that all of my employees will be very grateful about this change as it will improve their comfort.

I work eight hours a day at the administration office of a huge architectural firm and I can assure you that I try as hard as I can to consciously maintain a correct computer posture because I can feel the difference on the amount of stress that translates to my back when I do not. I would love to stand up or to be more active throughout the day however unfortunately this is not a possibility for me, as my job requires that I stay sitting down in a passive state throughout most of the day.

This is why I have bought a book which takes about work yoga and which teaches how to maintain a correct computer posture throughout the day. In the mornings when I wake up I practice daily Pilates sessions for thirty minutes before taking a bath, these Pilates exercises are excellent for my health as they keep my core muscles strong, These muscles are in turn the muscles responsible for helping me achieve a correct computer posture which minimizes the strain suffered on my back vertebrae. I believe that practicing Pilates every day as well as maintaining good computer posture are the two main customs which have helped me to reduce and avoid the chances of suffering for painful back aches, such as the ones which many of my coworkers suffer. I have tried to talk to these coworkers who constantly complain about pain on the back, the neck and on the shoulders about the importance of maintaining a correct and aligned computer posture however they are reluctant to following my advice.

They simply will not accept the fact that practicing simple Pilates exercises for such a short time during the mornings will eliminate and cure their aback aches, and that by practicing a correct computer posture they will maximize their work efficiency because they will be able to better concentrate and they wont feel pain in any of their muscles. I used to be plagued by tension on my shoulders and on my back, just as many of my coworkers are nowadays, the only difference between me and them is that I sought the help of Pilates to change my condition while they refused to do so, now they are still affected by this painful condition while I, who have learnt how to maintain a correct computer posture, am in total relaxation and experience to type of stress or pain on any of my muscles or joints.

I am the assistant of a financial analyst for a big technological company, so you can imagine how much I have to type. I type all sorts of documents, reports, and many haves I type hand written stuff he has, and needs it I the computer. So I really needed a good computer ergonomy. Because I work for this big company, they don’t have economic problems as to give employees the right equipment for them to work as comfortably as possible. Such was the case when I solicited a computer ergonomic workstation.

It is a computer ergonomy environment because it has a special keyboard, which allows me to have my hands straight and not have to bend my wrists. It is also a little bigger so I don’t have to bend my fingers as much. Also, a characteristic of having a computer ergonomy in the monitor is easy to adjust so it is eye level. This way, I don’t have to bend or tilt my head to be able to see the computer, and this helps me keep a good posture.

My computer ergonomy also has a mouse that it is the same height as the keyboard. The way I hold the mouse also is important because the repetitive motion of moving the mouse and clicking it can be bad for my health. This is why I have to hold it loosely, with all my fingers and move it with my shoulders and arms not just with the wrist.

The computer ergonomy concepts I follow also means I have the monitor light set so that it is not too bright on my eyes. Monitor lights can cause many eye problems is you have to stare at one for so many hours a day, which is why I recommend people to keep the monitor glare as low as possible.

It is also important, to have an effective computer ergonomy, that you have the appropriate workspace. The desk and chair influence in this also. You should have a chair that allows you the correct posture and a desk that is spacious enough to move the mouse around. Also, when using a computer ergonomic I learned that I should put the papers I have to type into the computer at the same level as the computer so that I don’t have to bend my head every time I am going to type in it. Computer ergonomy allowed me to do my job better and to be healthier. I recommend everyone should use one.

Workplace ergonomics can vary depending on the sort of work that is done in one place. For example it can be applied in factories to ensure lowest occupational hazard risk and in offices for a good ergonomicworkstation. This means locating the machinery or computers are placed in strategic places so that none gets hurt by it, giving the workers the correct suits, helmets, gloves, goggles or whatever they need to protect their bodies and their health from the risks of their occupations.

In today’s common ergonomic workstations and offices workplace ergonomics can also be applied and be as important as it is in administrative settings in factories or other heavy-duty jobs. A correct workplace posture makes sure the equipment that people need to get his or her work done is specifically designed to meet this person’s needs and be safe to their health. Workplace ergonomics is a simple way of ensuring that all the workers can perform at a great level, without them feeling health obstacles such as arthritis and back pain, which can be caused by work environments that don’t apply ergonomic workstations or good computer posture.

This because a good workplace posture takes in consideration how the human body works, and what kinds of movements, positions and habits can alter it in a negative way applying that knowledge for a good egonomic workstation. Knowing this, workplace ergonomics makes sure the furniture, the computer, and he person’s posture, position and habits are factors that will not affect the person’s health in a negative way. On the contrary, workplace ergonomics allows the person to perform a job that can be very fatiguing such as sitting in front of a computer typing for 8 hours a day, affect the body as little as possible.

I am a living example that workplace ergonomics an ergonomic workstation and a propper workplace ergonomics are a good way to stay healthy. In my office, we made the necessary adjustments to have workplace ergonomics. We changed the computer positions, the chairs, and our habits. Now, we all know how to use the keyboard in the proper way, as well as the mouse, to have a slow, smooth movement of the finger typing as well as when using the mouse, and try to keep the wrists straight. We maintain good sitting positions, and everyone and a while you see people getting up from their chairs and stretching like if they were going to the gym. Stretching is very good for all your body parts, which can become numb from sitting on a chair for such a long time.
A good ergonomic workstation leads to a great workplace posture which is healthy and more productive for employees

Having learned about all the benefits there are to having an ergonomic workstation and a good computer posture, I decided to turn my workplace ergonomics around. Now, with an ergonomic workstation and a correct computer posture my work hours seem shorter, my body feels less tired and I am improving my performance at work.

Before having my office space arranged as en ergonomic workstation, I began to feel some of the many problems your body develops because of not having an ergonomic workstation. This means your workplace is not designed for your body’s needs and so after long hours of sitting in front of your computer, you may develop all sorts of back and neck injuries, arthritis in joints all over your body, carpal tunnel syndrome and cataracts.

Having good workplace ergonomics means you modify your work gear and space, just a little bit, it doesn’t have to be a drastic change, just with little changes you can make the difference. For example adjusting the glare and light of your computer so it isn’t too bright and doesn’t hurt your eyes. It is very aggressive for the human eye to have to stare into a computer monitor for long hours, let alone having it to be into a shiny monitor. Also, once every half an hour I look away from the computer and let my eyes rest for a couple of minutes.

Another important modification I did to make my office an ergonomic workstation was to have the correct chair. The chair makes all the difference to make sure your body is sitting in the appropriate posture to take off pressure of your back, and legs. Your spine needs to be as straight as possible and your legs bend straight over the floor. Of course you changing posture every once in a while is important.

Now that I have an ergonomic workstation and good computer posture, I am not feeling the back pain I used to feel when I didn’t have it. With an ergonomic workstation, it also means I adjusted the monitor of my computer to be at eye level. This so that I wouldn’t have to tilt my head to look in to the computer so my neck is straight. Having and ergonomic workstation also allows me to have the papers I need to do my computer work at hand and in front of me (maybe having the page next to the computer) so I don’t even have to turn my body or move around a lot to reach for them.

I strongly recommend people everywhere to change theirs into an ergonomic workstation and to try a correct computer posture when sitting down, and I am sure you will start to do better in your job and prevent health problems that may affect you for life.

Computer posture problems made me suffer from terrible back pains until I learnt how to maintain a correct computer posture through workplace ergonomics and using tools such as an ergonomic keyboard .As a result of maintaining a correct computer posture I have been able to cure such pains. Not a long time ago I used to visit the chiropractor on a regular basis for a back massage which would reduce the pain and discomfort that I used to feel nonstop in my back ,including the upper back and the shoulder muscles.

Needles to say these visits were costing me and fortune and, although they provided a temporary solution to my aches, they were not an effective long term solution for my back aches. Fortunately I came across a yoga and Pilates book during a day that I went shopping for a novel at the book store which stressed proper computer posture techniques which promised to reduce back pains. I thought that I had nothing to loose as the book was very cheap so I bought it and I immediately went home to read it. The correct computer postures which were listed on this book seemed very easy to do, so the next morning as I was sitting on my desk at my office I decided to give them a try. Indeed after only one week of prating correct sitting postures my back was feeling a lot better and I started to experience a feeling of relaxation and calm throughout the day which none of the massages of the chiropractor had been able to give to me. I even get mad at myself for spending so much money on those massages which only helped me for a couple of hours instead of having thought about an alternative solution to curing my back pains such as yoga, Pilates, and maintaining a correct computer posture.

Now I realize how much my back and shoulder aches were impeding me from correctly performing my work, as I used to find it very hard to concentrate on whichever activity or task I was performing while being under such a huge discomfort. I underestimated the positive impacts that maintaining a proper computer posture would have on my back, luckily I eventually changed this way of acting and of thinking and I decided to give proper computer posture its due importance. Now I would say that pretty much every single moment that I am sitting in front of my desk I am focusing on maintaining a proper computer posture which will promote by back health and improve the quality of my work. If any man who sufferers from the same back pains that I used to and who works eight hours in front of a computer as I do should seek my advise I would tell him that the optimal procedure to follow for getting better is to maintain correct computer posture.
